• Commissions

My magazine by-lines include Countryfile, Country Walking, Bird Watching, The Simple Things and The Pilgrim. I enjoy writing features on birds, beachcombing and butterflies. I most frequently write about The Outer Hebrides and Hertfordshire. Awards for my writing include Runner-Up in BBC Countryfile New Nature Writer of the Year 2022. I am able to provide photographs to support my work.

  • Workshops & Talks

After two decades running professional development workshops for a FTSE 100 company delivering training courses around the world, I have designed several friendly and informal nature writing sessions. Partner organisations include RSPB, Species on the Edge, Outer Hebrides Wildlife Festival, Books On The Hill and Emerald Publishing.

  • Consulting

Having spent over twenty years working for Pearson in Schools and Higher Education publishing, along with a role as Vice President for Pearson Edexcel exam board in the UK, I have consulted on the new GCSE in Natural History and created a guide for the Sustainability and Climate Change themed Extended Project Qualification, ‘Getting Started in Nature Writing’.

  • Mentoring

I have partnered with dozens of women at all ages and stages of their careers as part of the 30% Club and 50 Foot Women mentoring programmes. I am now helping people to begin their own writing journeys, having been a mentor on the Masters of Nature & Travel Writing degree course at Bath Spa University and volunteering my time for A Focus On Nature.
